Calif. Court Enters $25 Million Judgment Against Algoma Hardwoods After $44 Million Asbestos Verdict

LOS ANGELES –– A California trial court has entered judgment in favor of plaintiffs in a take-home asbestos exposure case, three weeks after a jury returned a nearly $44 million verdict and assessed 50 percent liability to the lone remaining defendant.

In the June 10 judgment, the California Superior Court for Los Angeles County entered judgment against Algoma Hardwoods Inc. in the amount of $25,098,222 after calculating for the percentage of liability and set-offs. The judgment included $16,197,330 for plaintiff Deanne Warren and $8,900,892 for her husband, Craig Warren.
