Calif. Court Denies Challenges to Remote Asbestos Trial, Leaves Door Open for In-Person Jury Deliberations

OAKLAND, Calif. –– A California court has denied objections to a remote asbestos trial, expressing confidence that the proceedings can be conducted in a matter in which all participants can observe, hear, and participate in the trial when appropriate.

In a Sept. 28 order, the California Superior Court for Alameda County further noted that it intends on monitoring the jurors for their attentiveness and that jury members will be “required to abstain from other tasks and devote their full attention to the case.”
