Calif. Jury Reaches Defense Verdict for 3M Co. in Asbestos Case Involving Company’s Respirators




LOS ANGELES –– A California jury has reached a defense verdict for 3M Company in an asbestos case brought by a former welder, pipefitter and millwright, rejecting claims that the defendant’s respirator failed to protect the employee from dangerous asbestos fibers.

The California Superior Court for Los Angeles County jury reached the verdict on Feb. 15. Judge Elaine W. Mandel presided over the trial.

Plaintiff Angel Rigor filed the underlying claims, contending that he developed mesothelioma as a result of exposure to asbestos-containing products. The plaintiff said he encountered these products while working at industrial facilities for more than 40 …
