Calif. Supreme Court Won't Review Decision that 'Reluctantly' Admits Deposition

LOS ANGELES -- The California Supreme Court had declined a petition to review a trial court decision that "reluctantly" allowed plaintiffs to use an asbestos decedent's deposition despite disapproving of the "games" used to obtain the testimony. Crane Co. v. Superior Court of Los Angeles County, No. S173141 (Calif. Sup. Ct.).

According to the high court's online docket, Crane Co.'s petition was denied on July 8. The defendant had filed the petition on May 22, just 11 days after the Second Appellate District Court had denied review of the lower court's decision, which had openly invited appellate review.
