Wis. Court Dismisses Asbestos Claims Against CBS Corp., General Electric

MILWAUKEE –– A Wisconsin federal court has dismissed more defendants from an asbestos action after finding once again that the plaintiff had several opportunities to assert a mesothelioma claim against the defendants but failed to do so.

In the Feb. 3 order, the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Wisconsin wrote that CBS Corp. and General Electric “should not be forced to defend yet another action.”

CBS Corp. and General Electric both moved for judgment on the pleadings on the ground that claim preclusion barred the plaintiffs’ suit. Specifically, the defendants cited the court’s prior decision that determined …
