OAKLAND, Calif. –– The surviving family members of a California man who was allegedly exposed to asbestos have been awarded $11 million by a California jury for their wrongful death claims, three years after a jury awarded the decedent $17.5 million at the conclusion of a separate trial.

The California Superior Court for Alameda County jury reached the verdict on Jan. 15, after a two-day trial.

According to the plaintiffs’ wrongful death complaint, Gordon Bankhead died of mesothelioma in 2011 after nearly 40 years of exposure to asbestos. The lawsuit specifically outlined exposures that occurred during Bankhead’s work as …
