LOS ANGELES –– A trial court that was recently directed by an appellate court to authorize additional deposition time for defendants in an asbestos case has declined to do so, opining that a “published opinion will provide helpful guidance to the legal community.”

In a Dec. 30 order, Judge Emilie H. Elias of the California Superior Court for Los Angeles County said that he respectfully declined to modify his original order in which he had expressed concern over ambiguity in statutes governing time limits on depositions.
