Rand Study Reveals that 6,000 Defendants
Now Face Potential Asbestos Liability

SANTA MONICA, Calif. - The Rand Institute for Civil Justice, which has been analyzing the asbestos litigation since issuing its first report on the mass tort in the early 1980s, has issued its latest interim report signaling among other things that virtually no industry is immune from its reach.

Rand, in an interim follow-up to its 1983 study on asbestos litigation, now says that what began as a liability headache for some 300 companies has morphed into a potential financial nightmare for more than 6,000 companies in 75 of the 83 types of industries operating in the United States.
