Fla. Court Upholds Defense Verdict for Kaiser Gypsum, Union Carbide; Rejects Objections to Testimony

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. –– A defense verdict entered in favor of several asbestos defendants, including Kaiser Gypsum and Union Carbide, has been upheld by a Florida appellate court, despite attempts by the plaintiffs to vacate the verdict on grounds that testimony was improperly admitted.

In the Oct. 24 opinion, the Florida 4th District Court of Appeal found that the trial court did not err when it allowed the defendants to rely on testimony proffered in two asbestos cases that had previously been litigated.
