Ill. Court Throws Out $17 Million Asbestos Verdict in Conspiracy Case

SPRINGFIELD, Ill. –– Another multi-million asbestos verdict has been vacated by an Illinois appellate court, which found that the civil conspiracy claims against Pneumo Abex Corp. and Honeywell International Inc. (NYSE:HON) were not supported by the evidence at trial.

In the Aug. 31 opinion, the Illinois 4th District Court of Appeal cited its own decision from one year ago, in which it reversed a $2.5 million asbestos verdict, as grounds for ruling that the defendants were entitled to judgment notwithstanding the verdict.
