MDL Court Denies Crane Co.'s Motion for Summary Judgment

PHILADELPHIA -- The court overseeing the national Asbestos Multidistrict Litigation has denied a motion for summary judgment filed by Crane Co., ruling that there was a genuine issue of material fact as to whether the plaintiff was exposed to the original asbestos in the defendant's valves. Curry, et al. v. American Standard, et al., No. 09-65685 (E.D. Pa.).

In the Aug. 12 order, however, the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania did rule that a determination on whether the defendant can be held liable for asbestos manufactured and supplied by other companies was outside its scope. As …
