Miami Jury Awards More than $14 Million in Home Repair Asbestos Case

MIAMI -- A Florida jury has entered a $14 million verdict in an asbestos case, finding that defendant Union Carbide was liable for the plaintiff's mesothelioma. Aubin v. Union Carbide Corp., et al., No. 08-68233(08) (Fla. 11th Jud. Cir. Ct., Miami-Dade Cty.).

The Florida 11th Judicial Circuit Court for Miami-Dade County jury reached the verdict on May 19, allocating the majority of liability to Union Carbide.

The jury awarded $4 million for past pain and suffering; $10 million for future pain and suffering; and $191,000 for incurred medical expenses.
