SAN FRANCISCO -- The California Supreme Court has accepted a petition to review the reversal of a multi-million verdict, but has deferred the appeal pending consideration and disposition of a similar action, also pending before the high court. Merrill v. Leslie Controls, No. S178957 (Calif. Sup. Ct.).

According to a Feb. 3 online docket entry, the Supreme Court granted the plaintiff's petition for review, but said it will not brief the case until it has reached a decision in the pending O'Neil appeal, which also involves the issue of whether defendants can be held liable for asbestos that is added …
