Court Affirms Verdict, Says Awards Were 'Relatively Modest,' Not Excessive

TRENTON, N.J. -- A New Jersey appeals court affirmed a jury's award of nearly $850,000 entered in an asbestos-containing dryer felt case, concluding that the verdict was not excessive or against the weight of the evidence. Sarkozy, et al. v. A.P. Green Industries Inc., et al., No. A-0312-07T1 (N.J. Super. Ct., App. Div.).

In a July 31 opinion, the Appellate Division of the New Jersey Superior Court additionally rejected challenges made by Scapa Dryer Felts Inc. to expert testimony, the admittance of specific exhibits and comments made by plaintiff counsel during summations.
