Fla. Jurors Reach $1 Million Verdict in Boiler-Insulation Case




PANAMA CITY, Fla. -- A Florida jury has awarded nearly $1 million to the family of a former laborer who claimed that work around asbestos-containing boilers led him to develop mesothelioma. McBride, et al. v. American Standard, et al., No. 07-002192 (Fla. 14th Jud. Cir. Ct., Bay Cty.).

Judge Hentz McClellan of the 14th Judicial Circuit Court for Bay County presided over the trial, which concluded with a verdict on April 28. Foster Wheeler Corp. was the lone remaining defendant at the time of the verdict.
