Jury Awards $8 Million in Calif. Bystander Exposure Case




LOS ANGELES -- A former sales engineer who claimed that the majority of his asbestos exposure occurred while he was a bystander working for a chemical company has been awarded $8 million, sources told HarrisMartin. Nolan v. Allied Mineral Inc., et al., No. BC391649 (Calif. Super. Ct., Los Angeles Cty.).

The verdict, entered Jan. 29 by Los Angeles Superior Court jurors, held Foster Wheeler 20 percent liable for the injuries incurred by the plaintiff.

The jury deliberated for three days after three weeks of trial, sources told HarrisMartin.
