Pfizer Moves to Exclude Testimony of Widow's 'Unqualified' Experts

CHICAGO - Pfizer moved on Dec. 1 to exclude the testimony of four plaintiffs experts in an Illinois Zoloft wrongful death lawsuit, saying the doctors are unqualified, do not have the research to support their opinions and will erroneously testify that Zoloft causes akathisia. Zikis v. Pfizer Inc. No. 04-8104 (N.D. Ill.).

Gail C. Zikis sued Pfizer in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois in December 2004, alleging that its Zoloft (sertraline) antidepressant was responsible for the December 2002 suicide death of her husband, Donald [See Related Stories in Columns-Drugs & Supplements, May 2005, September 2005].
