Miss. Supreme Court Schedules Date to Hear Arguments on Propulsid Verdict

JACKSON, Miss. - The Mississippi Supreme Court will hear arguments Jan. 27 on Janssen Pharmaceutica's appeal of a Propulsid verdict that awarded $48.5 million to ten plaintiffs, who claimed they suffered cardiac injuries as a result of using the heartburn medication. Willie Rankin, et al., v. Janssen Pharmaceutica, et al. No. 2002-CA-00736-SCT (Miss. Sup. Ct.).
Janssen Pharmacuetica, and its parent company Johnson & Johnson, are requesting a new trial on the ground that the evidence did not justify the damages awarded to the plaintiffs.
