Texas Jury Awards Woman $1.36 Million for Fen-phen-Related Injuries




BEAUMONT, Texas - A woman was awarded $1.36 million after a state jury unanimously found that her use of Pondomin and Redux caused her to suffer mild aortic valve damage. Deborah Hayes v. Wyeth, No. B-165,374 (Texas Dist. Ct., Jefferson Cty., 60th Judicial Dist.).

The verdict, which was handed down Nov. 6, stated that plaintiff Deborah Hays deserved $500,000 for future mental anguish, $50,000 for past mental anguish, $2,480 for past medical expenses, and $810,000 for future medical bills.
