Plaintiffs File Petition with JPML Seeking Creation of Zantac MDL Docket

WASHINGTON, D.C. –– Plaintiffs with Zantac personal injury claims pending have filed a petition for coordination with the U.S. Judicial Panel on Multidistrict Litigation, contending that millions of the drug’s consumers have been exposed to dangerous levels of NDMA.

In the Nov. 4 petition, the plaintiffs told the JPML that the litigation is in need of consolidation “because the NDMA in Zantac is not an impurity that only recently made its way into the drug through shoddy manufacturing but is instead inherent to the drug’s molecular structure.”

According to the plaintiffs, they purchased and used Zantac, an over-the-counter heartburn medication. …
