Zimmer Moves for New Trial in Wake of $7.68 Million Durom Hip Verdict




LOS ANGELES –– Zimmer Inc. has moved for a new trial in the wake of a $7.68 million verdict issued by a California jury at the conclusion of a Durom Cup hip implant trial, following a retrial on damages only.

Zimmer filed the motion on Sept. 19 before Judge Daniel J. Buckley of the Los Angeles County Superior Court.

In 2007, plaintiff Gary Kline underwent a total hip replacement, which included implantation of the Zimmer Durom Acetabular Component. That metal component was implanted around another metal component and was fixated in Kline’s body without screws. The Durom Cup replaced the …
