Wash. Judge Imposes Discovery Sanctions on Biomet in Magnum Hip Lawsuit

SEATTLE — A Washington state judge has imposed sanctions on Biomet Inc. in the form of attorneys’ fees for failing to comply with plaintiffs’ discovery requests in a Magnum hip replacement lawsuit.

In an Oct. 18 order, Judge Catherine Shaffer of the King County Superior Court ordered Biomet to produce responses to plaintiffs’ second interrogatories and requests for production. The judge also ordered the manufacturer to pay plaintiffs’ attorneys’ fees incurred in filing their motion to compel.
