DePuy Pinnacle Hip Plaintiffs Seek Judgment Following $246.9 Million Verdict

DALLAS — Ten New York residents who were awarded $246,998,791.22 in compensatory and punitive damages at the conclusion of the fourth bellwether DePuy Pinnacle hip implant trial have asked a Texas judge to issue a judgment on the verdict.

In an Aug. 8 motion, the plaintiffs explained that they have agreed to a methodology for calculating offsets for health insurance pursuant to New York C.P.L.R. § 4545.

The Pinnacle metal-on-metal device was used to replace diseased hip joints and was intended to provide pain-free natural motion over a longer period of time than other hip-replacement devices. Plaintiffs, however, claimed …
