DALLAS –– DePuy and Johnson & Johnson have filed post-trial motions contesting a $502 million verdict entered in five Pinnacle hip implant cases consolidated for trial, saying that the verdicts were “undeniably excessive,” and inconsistent.

In the March 31 motion for a new trial on all issues filed in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Texas, the defendants additionally maintained that the plaintiffs were permitted to present a “litany of inadmissible evidence,” that resulted in severe prejudice against the companies.
