JPML Consolidates Federal Mirena IUD Cases in Southern District of New York

WASHINGTON, D.C. — The Judicial Panel on Multidistrict Litigation has centralized all federal lawsuits alleging injury caused by the intrauterine contraceptive device Mirena in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York.
In an April 8 order, the panel designated Judge Cathy Seibel to oversee the cases for coordinated or consolidated pretrial proceedings. Centralization under 28 U.S.C. § 1407 “will serve the convenience of the parties and witnesses and promote the just and efficient conduct of this litigation,” the panel held.
