Darvocet Manufacturer Sued in Federal Court

NEW ORLEANS - A woman has sued the maker of the recalled painkiller Darvocet, alleging that her ingestion of the drug caused her to suffer two heart attacks. Gallagher v. Xanodyne Pharmaceuticals Inc., No. 10-4455 (E.D. La.).

The proposed class action, filed Dec. 3 in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Louisiana, alleges Xanodyne Pharmaceuticals Inc. failed to conform with federal and/or state requirements for labels, warnings and instructions and knew or should have known that Darvocet "created significant risks of serious bodily harm to consumers."

According to the suit, Linda Gallagher was prescribed Darvocet in 2007 …
