Cook Medical IVC Filter is Defective, Suit Alleges

INDIANAPOLIS - An Indiana man has sued Cook Medical Inc. in federal court, alleging that its inferior vena cava filter is defective and caused him to sustain permanent injuries. Snyder v. Cook Medical Inc., No. 10-1385 (S.D. Ind.).

The Nov. 1 complaint, filed in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Indiana, says the filter broke in the plaintiff's chest and could not be completely removed.

According to the suit, Jack Snyder was scheduled to have a bone spur surgically removed from his spine in August 2008. The removal was postponed when a blood clot was found …
