MINNEAPOLIS - The makers of NuvaRing have been sued in Minnesota federal court for allegedly concealing information regarding the increased risk of thrombotic events posed by the contraceptive device. Verse v. Organon USA Inc., et al., No. 10-04430 (D. Minn.).

The suit, filed Nov. 1 in the U.S. District Court for the District of Minnesota, claims that defendants hid the fact that the device poses higher risks than those associated with oral contraceptive pills.

According to the suit, Alicia Verse used NuvaRing from September 2008 through November 2008. She suffered a pulmonary embolism on Nov. 14, 2008, the complaint says.
