Facebook Personal Data Class Actions Sent to California for Pre-trial MDL Proceedings

WASHINGTON, D.C. — The Judicial Panel on Multidistrict Litigation has agreed to transfer to a single judge in California more than two dozen lawsuits filed against Facebook for its alleged failure to adequately safeguard the personal information of those who use the social media platform.

The June 6 order, granting a motion by plaintiffs to centralize the litigation in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California, noted only that creating an MDL for the federal class actions against Facebook and co-defendant Cambridge Analytica would serve the convenience of the parties and promote just and efficient conduct in …
