J&J Files Motion to Stay Miss. AG Action, Seeks Appeal of Order Denying Summary Judgment

JACKSON, Miss. –– Johnson & Johnson has moved to stay a talcum powder action brought by the Mississippi Attorney General pending interlocutory appeal of an order denying the defendant’s efforts to obtain summary judgment in the matter.

In a Jan. 9 motion filed in the Mississippi First Judicial District Chancery Court for Hinds County, the defendant said that the issues presented in its petition for appeal are questions of law that, if resolved in Johnson & Johnson’s favor, are dispositive of the action and “will settle an issue of general importance in the administration of justice.”
