Wendy’s, Marriott Owners Sue Zurich Subsidiary for Coverage of COVID-19 Losses

CAMDEN, N.J. — The owners of 120 New Jersey restaurant and hotel franchises have sued American Guaranty & Liability Insurance Co. for more than $40 million in business losses and expenses they sustained when they closed or limited operations in response to the COVID-19 pandemic and related government stay-at-home orders.

In an Oct. 13 complaint filed in the U.S. District Court for the District of New Jersey, The Briad Group and various affiliates contend that their Zinburger, Wendy’s, Marriott and Hilton franchises sustained physical loss and damage in and around their insured properties.
