Lawsuit Says Geico Offered Inadequate COVID-19 Auto Insurance Premium Refunds

CHICAGO — A proposed class action accuses Geico Casualty Co. of failing to provide adequate premium refunds to its auto insurance policyholders for the months of March and April when fewer cars were on the road due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
In the complaint, removed to the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois on Oct. 30, plaintiffs Roxanne and James Thomas say the pandemic has led to a dramatic reduction in the number of auto insurance claims that have and will be submitted to Geico, yet the insurer offered “grossly inadequate” premium refunds in order to secure …
