Seattle Bakeries Sue Sentinel Insurance for COVID-19 Business Interruption Coverage

SEATTLE — A group of Seattle bakeries have sued Sentinel Insurance Co. in an effort to recoup losses they sustained when they were forced to close in compliance with government COVID-19 orders.

In complaints removed to the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Washington on Oct. 16, the bakeries, owned by Piroshky Baking Company LLC, contend that the virus itself and the government orders caused them to suffer physical loss and damage to their insured properties, triggering coverage under the policies.
