Pittsburgh Sushi Restaurant Sues Cincinnati Insurance for COVID-19 Coverage

PITTSBURGH — A Pittsburgh Japanese steakhouse and sushi restaurant has sued Cincinnati Insurance Co. in an effort to recoup business interruption losses it sustained when it was forced to close its dining room in compliance with government COVID-19 shutdown orders.

In a Sept. 29 complaint filed in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Pennsylvania, Southside Restaurant Partners LLC d/b/a Nakama Japanese Steakhouse & Sushi Bar says that as a result of the virus and the shutdown orders, it suffered “direct physical loss or damage” as defined by the policy.
