KANSAS CITY, Mo. — A Kansas City sports bar has filed a proposed class action against its insurer, seeking a ruling that it is obligated to provide coverage for business interruption losses arising from the COVID-19 pandemic and related civil authority orders.

In a May 18 complaint filed in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Missouri, Club 31 Sports Bar & Lounge LLC a/d/a Club 31 Sports Bar & Grill contends that the civil authority orders caused it to sustain property damage that is insurable under its policy issued by Mesa Underwriters Specialty Insurance Co.
