National Union Sued for $5 Million by Barbados Insurer

NEW YORK - A Barbados-domiciled insurer is suing National Union Insurance Co. for $5 million in reinsurance for an underlying medical malpractice claim. CCC Insurance Corp. v. National Union Fire Insurance Company of Pittsburgh, No. 07-CV-11393 (S.D. N.Y.).

National Union asserts that the action filed in December 2007 by CCC Insurance Co. is time-barred and should be dismissed. On Sept. 17, Judge P. Kevin Castel of the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York, ordered the parties to complete fact discovery by Dec. 19 and expert discovery by Feb. 13.
