Pa. Federal Judge Stays Reinsurance Case Pending Appeal

HARRISBURG, Pa. — A Pennsylvania federal judge has granted Everest Reinsurance Co.’s motion to stay his order compelling arbitration of a reinsurance dispute pending the reinsurer’s appeal regarding the unsealing of a cedent’s arbitration demand and related documents.

On May 22, Judge John E. Jones III of the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Pennsylvania said the reinsurer has shown that it has a reasonable chance of succeeding in its appeal of the sealing decision.
