Amended Complaint Stricken in Battle Over Reinsurance Coverage for 2003 Factory Fire




MIAMI — A Florida federal judge has granted Transatlantic Reinsurance Co.’s motion to strike an amended complaint in which the owner of a Nicaraguan plastics factory is seeking insurance coverage for a 2003 fire, ruling that the pleading was improperly filed.

In an April 2 docket order, Judge Marcia Cooke in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida said the amended complaint was filed without Transatlantic’s written consent or leave of court and therefore must be stricken.
