Health Insurer’s $1.8 Million Action Against Swiss Re Stayed Pending Mediation

PORTLAND, Ore. — An Oregon federal judge has stayed a case in which a health insurer has sued Swiss Re Life & Health for $1.8 million in reinsurance coverage for claims arising from a member’s hemophilia treatment and unrelated surgeries.

On Feb. 22, Judge Michael Mosman of the U.S. District Court for the District of Oregon granted the parties’ stipulated motion to stay court deadlines while the parties engage in mediation.
