Calif. Judge Orders Compliance with Subpoenas in Action Against Cal-Regent Owners

SAN DIEGO — A California federal magistrate judge has overruled a defendant’s objections to third-party subpoenas issued in a lawsuit accusing the owners of stripping an underwriting company of its assets in order to avoid paying a $3.2 million judgment obtained by Odyssey Reinsurance Co.

In an April order, Judge William V. Gallo of the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of California found the financial information sought in the subpoenas is relevant to the case against Diane Nagby, a former co-owner of Cal-Regent Insurance Services.
