Canal Moves to Compel Discovery in Reinsurance Fraud Action, Seeks Imposition of Sanctions

ATLANTA — Canal Insurance Co. has moved to compel the production of tax returns and bank account records relating to cash transfers that were paid to a group of individuals from a reinsurer’s bank account in a lawsuit in which it accuses the reinsurer of liquidating its assets to avoid its payment obligations.

Canal also seeks the imposition of various sanctions against those defendants for their alleged failure to comply with a previous discovery order issued by the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Atlanta.
