N.Y. Federal Judge Appoints Umpire to Oversee Arbitration Between Odyssey Re, London Reinsurers

NEW YORK — As directed by the 2nd Circuit U.S. Court of Appeals, a New York federal judge has appointed an umpire to oversee a reinsurance arbitration between Odyssey Reinsurance Corp. and certain London reinsurers.

In a Dec. 2 order, Judge Paul A. Crotty of the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York tapped Eve Cutler Rosen as umpire.

In October 1998, Odyssey Re issued Legion Insurance Co. a Casualty Second Excess of Loss Reinsurance Contract, which provided specific and aggregate excess of loss coverage for various policies written by Legion, including workers’ compensation business. Odyssey Re …
