R&Q, Wausau Settle Remaining Issues in Reinsurance Dispute

MADISON, Wis. — A Wisconsin federal judge has dismissed a declaratory judgment action filed by R&Q Reinsurance Co. in which it asserted that Employers Insurance Company of Wausau may not combine indemnity and defense expenses in order to meet its retention under a reinsurance certificate.
Judge Barbara B. Crabb of the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Wisconsin explained that according to their stipulation for dismissal, the parties have reached a settlement as to the remaining issues.
R&Q issued two one-year facultative reinsurance certificates to Wausau numbered 03 75 76 and 04 67 99, which covered two umbrella …
