Travelers Sues Excalibur for More Than $100,000 for Underlying LeBoeuf Claims

HARTFORD, Conn. — In a newly filed complaint, Travelers Indemnity Co. is demanding more than $100,000 in reinsurance proceeds from Excalibur Reinsurance Corp. for underlying claims brought against the law firm of LeBoeuf, Lamb, Greene & MacRae LLP.

The Dec.11 complaint, filed in the U.S. District Court for the District of Connecticut, Travelers accuses Excalibur of breaching a reinsurance treaty by failing to pay the billing.

According to the filing, Travelers’ predecessor obtained an “Accountants, Lawyers, Miscellaneous and Real Estate Errors and Omissions Liability Cessions Treaty” from Excalibur, which covered a policy Travelers had issued to LeBoeuf. Excalibur allegedly accepted …
