Arrowood Asks Court to Name Umpire in Dispute with Harper

CHARLOTTE, N.C. - Arrowood Insurance Co. has asked a federal judge to appoint a neutral umpire to oversee its reinsurance arbitration with Harper Insurance Co., asserting that the parties' umpire selection process has reached an impasse. Arrowood Indemnity Co. v. Harper Insurance Co., No. 11-514 (W.D. N.C.).
In an October 17 petition filed in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of North Carolina, Arrowood asserts that Harper's umpire nominees are not neutral and that the court should choose either Lawrence O. Monin, N. David Thompson or Elizabeth M. Thompson as umpire.
