Judge Allows American Medical Life to Proceed with Counterclaims

CHICAGO - An Illinois federal judge has refused to dismiss counterclaims brought by American Medical Life and Insurance Co. against Guarantee Trust Life Insurance Co. in a reinsurance contract dispute, ruling that they were adequately pleaded. Guarantee Trust Life Insurance Co. v. American Medical and Life Insurance Co., No. 10-2125 (N.D. Ill.).

On Feb. 3, Judge George M. Marovich of the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois allowed American Life to proceed with its counterclaims for declaratory judgment.
