Judge Appoints N. David Thompson to Oversee Wausau Arbitration

MADISON, Wis. - A Wisconsin federal judge has appointed N. David Thompson to oversee the arbitration of a reinsurance contract dispute between Employers Insurance Company of Wausau and various reinsurers, ruling that Thompson is the most qualified of the six nominees. Employers Insurance Company of Wausau v. Certain Underwriters at Lloyd's of London, et al., No. 09-201 (W.D. Wis.).

In a Sept. 29 order, Judge Barbara B. Crabb of the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Wisconsin further ruled that the reinsurers' affirmative defenses of statute of limitations, laches and estoppel should be addressed in the arbitration.
