Settlements in California Cosmetics Benzene Cases Total $1 Million

SANTA CLARA, Calif. -- A former cosmetologist alleging that she was exposed to benzene in cosmetics products has reached settlement agreements totaling more than $1 million with more than 30 defendants, sources told HarrisMartin. Hopkins, et al. v. Alberto Culver USA Inc., et al., No. 1-05-CV-045408 (Calif. Super. Ct., Santa Clara Cty.).

Sources indicated that trial is scheduled to move forward in the California Superior Court for Santa Clara County against the two remaining defendants, Paul Mitchell and Peter Thomas Roth. A specific trial date has not been set, sources said.
