Water Utility Company Sues PFAS Chemical Manufacturers, Seeks Reimbursement for Cleanup Costs

NEWARK, N.J. –– A water utility company has filed a lawsuit against the manufacturers of PFAS chemicals, contending that it has incurred costs related to its efforts to address chemicals found in the public water supply systems it owns and operated.

In the Nov. 8 complaint filed in the U.S. District Court for the District of New Jersey, the New Jersey-American Water Company Inc. argued that the defendants released chemicals they used to create firefighting suppressant agents into local water systems.
