Monsanto Contests $289 Million Roundup Verdict, Says Evidence is Insufficient to Support Verdict

SAN FRANCISCO –– Monsanto has filed notice of post-trial briefs contesting a $289 million Roundup verdict, saying that the evidence presented by the plaintiff was “insubstantial” and “insufficient.”

In a brief filed Sept. 7 in the California Superior Court for San Francisco County, Monsanto additionally said that the consumer expectation test given to the jury was not appropriate and “there was insufficient evidence that the safety expectations for the products at issue were within the purview of ordinary consumers, and that there was no duty to warn because Plaintiff presented insubstantial evidence that Plaintiff’s alleged risk was known in the …
